Under Mayor Vaus’ proactive leadership, Poway remains San Diego County's safest city, with the lowest sales tax, balanced budgets, outstanding parks, well-maintained roads, and planning that preserves our unique character.

While Sacramento politicians have steadily eroded local control, Mayor Vaus has stood firm for Poway's right to decide its own future. He voted to reduce Poway Road residential development by 40% and increase setbacks, while consistently opposing State high-density housing mandates.

Mayor Vaus’ steady leadership protected Poway from placement of a Sexually Violent Predator and delivered creative solutions to bring residents and businesses together during the pandemic. He guided Poway with strength and grace following the Chabad tragedy. He championed significant open space expansion and rallied support to secure housing for seniors, veterans, and adults with special needs.

Looking forward, Mayor Vaus is a leader in efforts to acquire and preserve hillsides and ridgelines from Boulder Mountain to Twin Peaks, install adaptive traffic signals to ease congestion, ban AI data centers, increase recreational opportunities, and beautify downtown.

He remains accessible to residents, opposes new taxes, supports first responders, and believes growth should strengthen — not change — the “City in the Country.”
